In June 2021, The FSA issued a product recall warning of various cat foods being sold by retail giants such as Sainsbury’s and Pets At Home. The alert was triggered after a surge in cases of Feline Pancytopenia - a fatal disease caused by Mycotoxins (toxins often emitted from mould). However, despite confirmed cases having now risen to over 500, The FSA have released a statement advising that there is ‘No causative link’ between pet food factory and pancytopenia outbreak.
