Not One More Vet

At Kintra Vet, we feel passionately about mental health, and the holistic well-being of our staff is top priority. We will be a formidable presence in the fight against veterinary suicide having experienced the loss of a colleague first-hand. We have an open-door policy as standard and will always encourage our colleagues to speak with ANYONE about how they are feeling. We do weekly (or daily if needed) check-ins with our team to nurture and support our working relationships.

In 2019, Dr Nadine Hamilton published a book called 'Coping with Stress and Burnout as a Veterinarian' which articulate her findings from a 10-year study of veterinary well being. She discovered the heartbreaking reality that the suicide rate for veterinarians, is almost four times higher than the general population across the UK.

This eye opening publication was made prior to COVID-19 and as such, we sadly anticipate that current research will prove this number to now be, much higher. Our already stretched profession is being put under further pressure by clients with unrealistic expectations.

With this in mind, it is of top priority that all of our staff within our practice are treated with kindness and respect at all times.
