Kintra Vet are a new mobile veterinary service covering Hamilton, Blantyre, East Kilbride, Cambuslang and most other surrounding areas.

Dr. Jennifer Spiers is an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon, who specialises in treating pets in their own home.

Catering to the particular needs of nervous animals, rescue pets and pets who are not well enough to attend a regular clinic.

The service is also perfect for owners who may struggle to attend a regular practice due to their own mobility issues or simply a lack of transport.

Five Freedoms

Veterinary professionals and owners alike, are responsible for looking after animals and should aim to give them the Five Freedoms. The Five Freedoms are considered aspirational, as they cannot always be achieved and maintained at all times. For example, an animal may need to feel hungry before it will eat. However, animal keepers should always aim to provide the five freedoms to their animals as far as possible.

By ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.

Freedom from Discomfort.

By providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.

Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease.

By prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.

Freedom to Express Normal Behavior.

By providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.

Freedom from Fear and Distress.

By ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

Jen spends a good 5-10 minutes each visit just giving him cuddles and attention which has really helped to build his trust in her. He actually gets excited to see her when she arrives now, even when he isn’t well (wee soul lol)! Jen recently helped to identify & clear a nasty ear infection within a short time frame and my boy is much happier for it.

Jen and her team are incredible caring and spend a lot of time with my dog Maddie who suffers from bad ear infections. When she comes in Maddie definitely a lot happier to see Jen than she was when attending a vet clinic. It is definitely better for the pets and owners to be seen in their own environment.
